Online Blackjack Can Create Jobs
Remember a year ago when the U.S. state of Connecticut decided to legalize table games at its slot casinos? The reason for doing so, aside from the fact that blackjack is a fun game and people want to play it, is an economic one. Adding table games creates jobs, because now you need dealers. It would also bring more customers to the casinos, which would mean more revenue for the businesses (including nearby businesses unrelated to the casinos) and more tax money for the government. A year later, all of that has happened. The casinos are busier than ever, the government is getting more tax money, and the casinos employ more people than before.
What most people don’t realize is that regulating online gambling can do the same thing. You don’t need to read the statistics on dol.gov to know that the United States needs more jobs and the government needs to a) increase revenue and b) decrease spending. Regulating online gambling sites can bring in that extra tax revenue without increasing taxes on any Americans. If Americans open online casinos in the country, then it would create jobs where none existed. If it’s offshore online casinos operating in the United States, then it is making money by taxing non-Americans. It’s a win either way. There is also no downside to regulating online gambling in the United States, because the cost of regulating it would be less than the tax revenue, and because people are already playing at offshore gambling websites. Lack of regulation won’t stop people from playing, so why not have them patronize American businesses?
Mississippi Introduces Online Gambling Bill
If you have been keeping track of the American states that are considering regulating online gambling, there is another to add to the list. Mississippi became the most recent state to introduce intrastate online gambling legislation. The legislation was introduced in the state House of Representatives and the lawmakers are hoping to vote in it this year.
According to Yahoo News, the bill is called the Mississippi Lawful Internet Gaming Act of 2012, also referred to simply as House Bill 1373. Representative Bobby Moak (D) introduced a bill that is currently 56 pages long, which would regulate online gambling, including poker. The bill would create licensing for the industry, with online casino companies needing to pay fees of $200,000 or more to obtain a license.
People are only now beginning to go through the legislation, but here are some highlights. The legal gambling age is 21, just like in the state’s land casinos. All casino software must be tested and approved by the gaming commission. Anyone who tampers with or attempts to manipulate the software in any way is subject to a fine of up to $200,000 per violation. All of that is pretty standard. One rule that might worry players is that any funds in a player’s account are forfeited if their account is inactive for a year.
Mississippi is the fifth state to introduce online gambling legislation. Nevada passed a bill that is awaiting regulation from the federal government. Iowa has a bill currently in committee. New Jersey is considering a bill that was revised from one that was last year vetoed by Governor Christie. Hawaii has also introduced an online gambling bill, but few believe it will pass in a state that is one of three to not allow any form of gambling. Washington, D.C. became the first U.S. jurisdiction to pass regulation of online gambling last year, but the law was later repealed.
Best New Casinos for Blackjack
There are a lot of great online casinos out there for blackjack players, but sometimes it is hard to narrow down the choices. Sometimes you want something new and want to find the best new casinos. It’s always exciting to start fresh and try something new, but make sure you are still getting good deals at good casinos. You don’t want to play at a casino that is less generous simply because it is new.
If you check our homepage, you will find a chart with what we consider the 10 top online casinos. All of those casinos are safe licensed casinos. All of them have good welcome bonuses, which range from $777 to $10,000 (or unlimited). All of them have good payout rates, ranging from 95.83% to 98.28%. They also have good game selections, frequent tournaments with good prizes, and top-rated customer service. Make sure any new online casino that you find can boast all of the same.
There are new online casinos popping up all the time. As Google can easily tell you, some of them are part of casino groups, related to casinos that you already know. Some are actually an old casino that has been rebranded and relaunched under a new name. Others are legitimately new and independent. In any case, a lot of research should go into a new casino to be sure you can trust it. Since there might not be any customer feedback to find, that makes the rest of the research, such as its license and software, even more important.
Blackjack Random Number Generator
I love to learn about new technology. You can often find me browsing articles and product reviews on Cnet. If you’re like me, you might be curious about how online blackjack games determine what card is drawn. It is all part of a little program called a random number generator.
Online there is no physical deck of cards, so a computer program determines what cards are drawn, both by players and the dealer. The random number generator, commonly called an RNG, is a computer program that ensures that each card that is drawn is selected at random. The RNG uses a complex mathematical algorithm. Hundreds of times every second, that algorithm generates a sequence of numbers, with each number combination standing for a certain outcome, such as the number and suit.
Because the RNG is continuously generating numbers, you cannot predict the outcome. Even if you were somehow able to crack the algorithm, you could not tell what would happen next because you would have no way of knowing where in the sequence the RNG is. That makes any attempt to cheat and crack the code ineffective. It also makes card counting ineffective, because the cards are randomly drawn with no regard for a traditional 52-card deck.
Because the RNG randomly creates outcomes and because it is continuously running, one outcome has no influence over the next. If you stop playing an online blackjack game, leave the table, and the next person wins, that doesn’t mean you would have won that hand, unless you were going to hit at the precise nanosecond that the other person did. The RNG ensures unpredictability, for better or worse.
